BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team won its fifth straight game Sunday afternoon, defeating Oglethorpe 1-0 at BSC Soccer Park.

With today's win, Head Coach Benji Walton becomes BSC's all-time winningest women's soccer coach, with a record of 67-36-3 in six seasons. He has won at least 10 games every year so far at the helm of the program.

The Panthers move to 10-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Stormy Petrels fall to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the SAA. Today was BSC's sixth shutout of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes and recorded two saves.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27, facing Millsaps at 4 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park. BSC will then travel to Danville, Ky., for the 2012 SAA Championship, hosted by Centre College, Nov. 2-4.
