ATLANTA, Ga.—Seven Birmingham-Southern women's soccer players have been named to the inaugural All-Southern Athletic Association Teams, the league office announced today.
Junior forwards Amanda Babbin (Carmel, Ind.) and Bailey Kimbell (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) were both named First-Team All-Conference, while freshman forward Jessie Sperry (Powder Springs, Ga.) earned Second-Team honors. Senior Melissa Sweeney, juniors M'Kayl Lewis and Richelle Byrd, and freshman Avery Newcomb nabbed spots on the Honorable Mention Team.
Babbin finished the season ranked third in the conference in points (24) and assists (6), and fourth in goals (9). Kimbell ranked second in goals (10) and game-winning goals (3), and fifth in points (23).
Sperry was impressive in her first season at the college level, ranking sixth in the SAA with eight goals, seventh with four assists, and eighth with 20 points.
The Panthers finished the season with a record of 12-6-1, and went 6-1 in the conference. BSC fell to Rhodes in the semifinals of the SAA Tournament on Nov. 3.
