Soccer teams earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's soccer teams have both received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award yet again this year.

A total of 726 college soccer teams (222 men, 504 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the honor for the 2011-12 academic year. Of that total, 152 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

It is the 10th overall and fifth-straight award for the women, and sixth-straight award for the men. The women's program recorded a team grade point average of 3.36, while the men posted a combined 3.38 last year.
