No. 9 Lynchburg shuts out BSC, 5-0

SALEM, Va.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team fell to 0-2 today with a 5-0 loss to ninth-ranked Lynchburg College at the Roanoke Invitational in Salem, Va.

The Hornets (2-0) scored three times in the first half and twice in the second half. Sophomore Morgan Singer had a hat trick, recording the second, fourth, and fifth goals of the game.

Lynchburg dominated on offense, out-shooting the Panthers 26-2, 15-1 on-goal. BSC senior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd recorded 10 saves.

The Panthers open their home schedule next weekend, hosting LaGrange on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
