BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team lost at home Friday evening, 2-0, to a dominating 10th-ranked Emory team.
The Panthers fall to 2-4, while the Eagles move to 4-2-1.
The first half was scoreless, although Emory had plenty of chances and held possession of the ball for nearly the entire 45 minutes, out-shooting BSC 13-0. Lauren Gorodetsky put Emory on the board in the 70th minute, scoring after a corner kick, and then scored again as the final minute ticked away on a free kick after a foul.
BSC managed to try for four shots in the second half, but only one of those was on-goal. Emory had 26 shots, 10 on-goal. The Eagles also took eight corner kicks to BSC's two.
Senior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes in the net for the Panthers and recorded seven saves.
The Panthers are at home again this Sunday, facing Agnes Scott College at 1:30 p.m. at BSC Soccer Park.
