ROME, Ga.—After a 1-1 tie in the first half of play, Berry out-scored the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team 3-1 in the second half to win 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Ford Field in Rome, Ga.
BSC falls to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Vikings move to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the SAA.
The Panthers scored the first goal of the game, a header by sophomore Sammy Manzo in the 21st minute off assists from seniors Hillary Dreyfus and Kelly Craft. Berry tied it up in the 40th minute, and then pulled ahead after halftime with goals in the 52nd and 69th minutes.
BSC cut the lead to 3-2 in the 71st minute when junior Catherine Sandon scored, but the Vikings added an insurance goal in the 80th minute to pull ahead 4-2.
The Vikings out-shot the Panthers 12-4, 9-2 on-goal. Senior goalkeeper Richelle Byrd played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves.
BSC wraps up regular season play next weekend, taking on Millsaps on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
