BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two second-half goals propelled the Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout of Oglethorpe, Friday evening at Preston Goldfarb Field.
The Panthers moved to 8-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Stormy Petrels fell to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in league action.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore Nicole Newton found the net in the 59th minute off an assist from junior Jessie Sperry. Twenty-two minutes later, junior Sammy Manzo scored off an assist from freshman Hannah Snoddy to wrap up the game's scoring.
BSC out-shot the Petrels 29-1 with 10 shots on goal. The Panthers also had 11 corner kicks to OU's none.
BSC is at home again on Sunday, facing Berry College at 2:30 p.m.
