Women's Soccer falls to Centre in SAA Championship, 5-1

DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team saw its season come to an end Friday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to Centre in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association Championship, hosted by the Colonels in Danville, Ky.

The fifth-seeded Panthers fall to 9-8-1, while fourth seed Centre moved to 13-5-1.

Centre led 3-0 after the first 45 minutes of play, and went up 4-0 before the Panthers scored in the 53rd minute when junior Avery Newcomb found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season. The Colonels would score once more before the end of the game to increase the lead to 5-1.

Centre out-shot BSC 19-5, including 9-5 on-goal. Junior Katie Williams and sophomore Ansley Tomlin split time in goal for the Panthers, recording two saves apiece.
