    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its big awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2017 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC’s campus.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Bethany Kuerten (Auburn, Ala./ Auburn High School) is a senior soccer student-athlete at Birmingham-Southern College. After completing four seasons on the pitch for the Panthers, she has decided in her senior year to stay active and join the track and field team this spring. She will participate in the 800m and 400m races, while also competing in the long jump.
  • SAA Announces Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

    ATLANTA - The SAA announced the 2016 Fall Sports All-Sportsmanship Teams and 55 student-athletes among the league's eight full-time members and three affiliate members received recognition. Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play amongst all competitors.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team saw four Panthers named to Southern Athletic Association All-Conference teams Tuesday, headlined by senior Bethany Kuerten (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) and sophomore Taylor Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS), who earned second-team honors.
  • SAA Tournament: Women Battle at Berry, Lose in PK’s

    ROME, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team battled through two overtimes at Berry College Saturday night to force penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Southern Athletic Association Tournament. BSC would fall 7-6 in the PK’s. The Panthers close the year at 7-11 overall.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team is seeded fifth in the 2016 Southern Athletic Association Tournament and will face fourth seeded Berry College on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. ET on the road in Rome, Ga.

The win was the Panthers fourth shutout victory of the year. They improved to 7-10 overall, 3-4 in Southern Athletic Association play.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team allowed just one shot on goal from Oglethorpe University Friday night en route to its 3-0 win in Southern Athletic Association play. The shutout was BSC’s third of the year. They improved to 6-9 overall, 2-3 SAA with the win.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer team shutout Judson (Ala.) Wednesday 4-0. The Panthers defense held Judson (5-9) to zero shots for the game. BSC improved to 5-9 overall with the win.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women’s soccer won its Southern Athletic Association home opener in dramatic fashion Saturday on Goldfarb Field. Tayler Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS) drilled a long shot from the top middle of the box on a pass from Ivy Painter (Jackson, Miss./St. Andrew’s Episcopal HS) in the 99th minute to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 overtime win against Hendrix College. BSC improved to 4-5 overall, 1-0 in the SAA with the win.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College women’s soccer team outlasted Belhaven University Saturday afternoon 2-1 in a double-overtime victory. Sophomore McKenna Boyd (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County HS) scored the game winner with 13 seconds left in the match off a corner from fellow sophomore Taylor Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS). The Panthers improved to 2-0 on the year with the win.

Former Birmingham-Southern women?s soccer standout Ruth Hanks (?10) has earned the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge while serving at Arlington National Cemetery. A Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Hanks is the fourth woman in history to earn the badge, and the first since 1998.
