BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team shutout Judson (Ala.) Wednesday 4-0. The Panthers defense held Judson (5-9) to zero shots for the game. BSC improved to 5-9 overall with the win.
Taylor Andrews (Watkinsville, Ga./Oconee County HS) scored two goals in the win.
The Panthers jumped onto the scoreboard in the 18th minute. Bethany Kuerten (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) sent a through ball to Andrews who drippled past a defender and scored her first goal of the night.
BSC went into the break up 1-0 having out shot the Eagles 26-0.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Rachel Motamed (Birmingham, Ala./Indian Springs HS) cutoff a clear pass from a defender and scored her first collegiate goal.
Taylor's second goal would come in the 58th minute. She took a pass from Nicole Newton (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal HS) on the right side of the goal and drilled it in.
Mary Caroline Newman (Germantown, Tenn./St. Mary's Episcopal HS) secured the win in the 77th minute on a pass from Motamed. She kicked it in from the left.
The Panthers return to action this Friday, Oct. 14 in a Southern Athletic Association showdown with Oglethorpe University in a doubleheader with the men's team. The women kick off at 5 p.m.
