BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team traveled to Huntingdon College on Sunday night for a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Birmingham-Southern forward Sydney Barrow (Birmingham, Ala./Indian Springs HS) got the scoring started in the 12th minute with a shot that was deflected off the goalkeeper and found the back of the net. The goal was Barrow's second of the young season.
Midfielder Abby Kay Choate (Tifton, Ga./Tift County HS) grabbed the assist on the play.
BSC would take its 1-0 lead into halftime, but the home side found an equalizer in the second half, scoring in the 68th minute.
Knotted up at 1-1, neither team conceded for the remaining 22 minutes of regulation or the 20 minutes of overtime, ending the match in 1-1 stalemate.
The Panthers were outshot 18-9 in the game but BSC junior goalkeeper Blakley Jones (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Holy Spirit Catholic HS) kept the Hawks out with 11 saves on the night, a season high for Jones.
The draw result moves Birmingham-Southern's record to 1-3-1 on the year. The Panthers will travel to Covenant for their next match on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
