Women's Tennis downs Shorter College, 8-1; Men fall 5-4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team rebounded from a close loss to North Alabama yesterday with an 8-1 win against Shorter College today, while the BSC men fell to Shorter, 5-4, at the BSC Tennis Complex.
The women were victorious at every position except the top doubles spot, and move to 3-1 on the season. At number two doubles, #Janie Asseff# and #Kate Lambert# won 8-1, while #Carly Adams# and #Brittany Cooper# won 8-5 at the third spot. In singles, #Kathryn Carroll#, Lambert, Asseff, Cooper, Adams, and #Angee Stevens# all picked up singles wins.
For the men, who picked up their first loss of the season today to move to 4-1, #Michael Locandro#, #Faris Pacha#, and #John Zukley# won in singles play at spots one, three, and six. In doubles, Locandro and #John Crawford Freeman# won at the top spot.
The men's team is at home again tomorrow against Washington College. If the weather holds, the Panthers will play at 2pm at BSC Tennis Complex; if not, they will play at 4:30 p.m. at Samford University's indoor courts.
The women were originally scheduled to travel to Atlanta this weekend to take on Oglethorpe, but that match has been postponed to March 13 due to the probably of inclement weather. The Panthers' next match is now at home this Sunday, March 1, at 1pm against Mississippi College.
