BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win today at home against Covenant College. The Panthers move to 3-4 on the season with the win.
Junior Brittany Cooper was victorious at the top singles spot, 7-5, 6-0, while she and freshman Kristen Crifasi lost at the top doubles position, 8-4. Crifasi also lost at number two singles, 6-3, 6-2, but junior Angee Stevens, freshman Raeann Lamere, sophomore Katherine Jackson, and senior Rachal Jones all won their matches at three, four, five, and six singles. Stevens won 6-0, 6-2, Lamere won 6-0, 6-1, Jackson won 6-3, 6-2, and Jones won 6-0, 6-0.
Stevens and Jones teamed up for doubles play at the two spot, winning 8-0, while Lamere and Jackson won 8-6 in the third position.
The Panthers are on the road for their next three matches, traveling to Orlando, Fla., during Spring Break to take on Wayne State University, March 13, UW La Crosse, March 14, and Campbellsville University, March 15.
