MURFREESBORO, Tenn.--With two doubles wins and three singles victories, the Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team defeated Millsaps, 5-4, in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Championship, Friday afternoon in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The fourth-seeded Panthers move to 10-2 on the season, while the fifth-seeded Majors fall to 11-8. BSC will face top-seeded Sewanee tomorrow at 1 p.m.
In doubles, BSC won at the two and three spots, with junior Emily Holst and freshman Sara Cohen combining to win 8-6, and junior Terria Punturo and freshman Lindsey Farrell winning by default. Cohen, Holst, and Farrell were also victorious in singles action.
Cohen now stands at an impressive 11-1 in singles play and 10-1 in doubles this season.
