Women's Tennis wins sixth straight with 7-2 victory against Oglethorpe
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Ranked No. 15 in the Atlantic South region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team rolled to a 7-2 Southern Athletic Association win over Oglethorpe University Saturday morning at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.
The Panthers improve to 10-2 on the season and a perfect 4-0 mark in SAA action with their sixth straight win. Oglethorpe is now 3-12 and 0-4 in conference play.
BSC swept doubles action with wins at top doubles from senior Moya Moore and sophomore Sara Cohen, at two doubles from freshman Mary Evelyn Carroll and senior Emily Holst, and at three doubles from sophomore Lindsey Farrell and senior Terria Punturo. Moore and Cohen move to 9-1, Carroll and Holst move to 8-2, and Farrel. and Punturo move to 9-1 in doubles action.
Birmingham-Southern continued to find success in singles play, taking four of six matches with wins from Moore (9-3), Holst (6-6), Carroll (11-1), and Farrell (6-4).
The Panthers are back on the court tomorrow morning, hosting Berry College at 9 a.m.
