Women's Tennis closes out regular season with road split

DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis teams split this weekend on the road, falling to No. 19 Sewanee on Saturday, 9-0, in Sewanee, Tenn., before rebounding with a win against Centre College, 5-2, today in Danville, Ky., to wrap up regular season play.

The Panthers move to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Athletic Association.

After being swept by the Tigers on Saturday, in today's match against Centre the Panthers won all three doubles points and two of the four singles matches that played to completion. Sophomore Sara Cohen won at two singles to move to 8-4 on the season, and one doubles, paired with senior Moya Moore, moving to 10-2. Freshman Mary Evelyn Carroll was also victorious at four singles to move to 12-2, and combined with senior Emily Holst at two doubles to win and move to 9-3 on the season. The doubles pair of senior Terria Punturo and sophomore Lindsey Farrell also won at three doubles, moving to 10-2.

The team is back in action in two weeks at the 2014 SAA Championship, April 25-27 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
