MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team picked up another Southern Athletic Association victory today, defeating Rhodes 6-3 in Memphis.
The Panthers moved to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in the SAA.
BSC took all three doubles points from Rhodes, ranked 16th in the Atlantic South region. Freshman Carlee Petro and junior Sara Cohen won 8-4 at the No. 1 position, while junior Lindsey Farrell and freshman Katie Scherer won at the second spot, 8-6, and sophomore Mary Evelyn Carroll and freshman Virginia Hammond teamed up to win 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Petro won easily at No. 1 singles, but the Lynx took singles points at Nos. 2, 3, and 4. Hammond and Farrell won at five and six to help clinch the victory for BSC.
The Panthers are at home this Wednesday, April 15, hosting Huntingdon at 3 p.m., before hosting conference matches next weekend against Centre, Saturday, and Sewanee, Sunday.
