Women's Tennis shuts out Centre in SAA quarterfinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team shut out Centre today, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 Southern Athletic Association Championship at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Fourth-seeded BSC moved to 10-2, while fifth-seeded Centre fell to 7-7.

The Panthers won all three doubles contests, and then won two and three singles for the 5-0 win. Junior Sara Cohen and freshman Carlee Petro won 8-5 at one doubles, and Cohen also won at two singles, while junior Lindsey Farrell and freshman Katie Scherer won 8-2 at two doubles and junior Virginia Hammond and sophomore Mary Evelyn Carroll won 8-4 at three doubles. Scherer also won at No. 3 singles.

BSC will face top-seeded Sewanee tomorrow at noon in the semifinals.
