McKenzie Courtney commits to BSC women's tennis program

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—McKenzie Courtney has committed to the Birmingham-Southern women's tennis program, Head Coach Ann Dielen announced today. Courtney has completed her intent to enroll in the college and will compete beginning this fall.

Courtney, a UMS-Wright Preparatory School standout from Mobile, Ala., won 11 individual state tennis titles and six team tennis titles during her career. She was a six-time All-County selection and was named Alabama Coastal Tennis Player of the Year both her junior and senior years. Courtney was also named the 2015 Coastal Alabama Athlete of the Year

Courtney competed in four varsity sports (tennis, basketball, soccer, and track and field), and earned three All-County basketball honors. She also won the basketball Toughness Award, joined the 1,000-Point Club, and was a member of the 4A All-State Tournament team as a senior, helping UMS to the state semifinals.

She plans to study pre-med at Birmingham-Southern and then attend physical therapy school.
