BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College women's tennis team has earned its fifth Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award in six years. Four Panthers received individual recognition, being named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their work on the court and in the classroom. BSC women's tennis has had a Scholar-Athlete named in each of the past seven seasons.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes," said Head Coach Ann Dielen. "Their hard work and discipline have really paid off."
Recent graduates Sara Cohen (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) and Lindsey Farrell (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal HS) picked up their second consecutive Scholar-Athlete award. This is the first ITA academic honor for junior Alana Owens (Mableton, Ga./Riverwood International Charter School) and sophomore Isabella Wisener (Horton, Ala./Douglas HS).
The Panthers finished second in the Southern Athletic Association regular season with a 6-1 conference record, 15-5 overall. They advanced to the SAA Championship match of the tournament and Wisener was named to the all-tournament team for her performance playing out of the No. 3 singles spot.
