Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team excelled in the classroom during the 2016-17 season.  The Panthers earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team Award and saw six individuals received All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors.  This is the second consecutive year BSC has received the team award.


Programs must hold a 3.2 cumulative team grade point average to be recognized.  According to the ITA, individuals must be a varsity letter winner, hold a 3.5 GPA or higher, and have at least two semesters at their current institution.


Courtney Blinn (Ocala, Fla./Forest Glen HS), Mary Evelyn Carroll (Madison, Miss./Madison Central HS), Lexie Dillard (Jasper, Ala./Walker HS), Bonnie Lioce (Huntsville, Ala./Randolph School), Alana Owens (Mableton, Ga./Riverwood International Charter School), and Isabella Wisener (Horton, Ala./Douglas HS) were the individuals to receive recognition.  This is Owens' and Wisener's second consecutive scholar-athlete award.
