BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With wins over No. 7 Trinity University and Millsaps College, the Birmingham-Southern volleyball completed a 4-0 weekend in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Central/West Divisional, Sunday, in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers move to 19-7 with the wins, and have now won eight straight matches.
In the first match this morning against No. 7 Trinity, BSC won 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 28-26). Junior Sarah Harris led with 13 kills and recorded a double-double with 12 digs. Junior Milica Stojanovic also recorded a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Jennifer McKannan led defensively with 18 digs.
For Trinity, Ginger Haley led with 10 kills, Caroline Keener led with 32 assists, and Emily Hillard led with 13 digs. Megan Dudley and Megan Guest were also in double digits with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
In the Panthers’ second match of the day against Millsaps, BSC won 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-6), led by junior Morgan Anderson with nine kills, Stojanovic with another double-double (20 assists, 10 digs), and McKannan led with 11 digs. Anderson also led with eight block assists, followed by junior Caitlin Dees with seven.
Sarah Exley led the Majors with five kills, Hailey Miranda led with 12 assists, and Dixie Krauss and Mallory Clark led with 13 and 10 digs, respectively. Toni Manley led at the net with four block assists and a solo block.
In other games today, Southwestern University defeated Hendrix, 3-0, Colorado College defeated Millsaps, 3-0, Austin College defeated Rhodes, 3-0, Trinity defeated Austin College, 3-0, Southwestern defeated Colorado College, 3-1, and Rhodes defeated Hendrix, 3-0.
The Panthers stay at home for their next match this Friday, Oct. 17, taking on Lee University at 6 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
