Volleyball wins Emory National Challenge
ATLANTA – The Birmingham-Southern (27-8) volleyball team won the Emory National Challenge today after splitting with a win over No. 2 Emory, 3-0, and a 3-2 loss to No. 1 Juniata to wrap up the 2008 season.
Junior Michelle Maciejewski was named Tournament MVP, while juniors Morgan Anderson and Caitlin Dees were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Panthers' 3-0 (25-20, 29-27, 25-18) win over Emory extended its winning streak to 16 matches. Anderson and Maciejewski led with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, and both also hit over .470 for the match. Junior Milica Stojanovic led with 29 assists, and junior Sarah Harris and sophomore Jennifer McKannan led with 11 digs apiece.
Individual set scores and stats were not immediately available for the match against Juniata.
Although the Panthers have finished their season, they will host the annual BSC Alumni match next Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum. It will also be Senior Night for the Panthers.
