Volleyball goes 1-3 at Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team went 1-3 at the Rhodes College Invitational, Friday and Saturday in Memphis.
On Friday, the Panthers lost to Loyola New Orleans, 3-0 (12-25, 21-25, 14-25) but defeated Principia College 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-20). On Saturday, BSC dropped matches to Union University, 3-0 (13-25, 22-25, 17-25), and Freed-Hardeman University, 3-1 (15-25, 18-25, 25-19, 18-25).
Against Loyola, senior Sarah Harris had four kills, junior Christine Denning had 12 assists, and sophomore Haley Johnson had eight digs. Against Principia, Harris led with 12 kills, Denning dished out 25 assists, and junior Jennifer McKannan led with 20 digs.
On Saturday against Union, Harris led again with nine kills and posted 11 digs for a double-double, Denning recorded 18 assists, and McKannan had 16 digs. Against Freed-Hardeman, Harris led with 19 kills, followed by Hope Harris with 10 kills and 12 digs for a double-double, Denning posted 34 assists, and McKannan led with 18 digs.
The Panthers are on the road again this weekend, traveling to the SCAC West/Central Divisional No. 1 in San Antonio, Texas, to face Austin College and No. 20 Southwestern University on Friday, and Millsaps College and No. 15 Colorado College on Saturday.
