On day one today of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference West/Central Divisional, hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, the Birmingham-Southern volleyball team lost to No. 25 Austin College, 3-0, and No. 20 Southwestern University, 3-1. The Panthers fall to 1-6 with the two losses, and will face Millsaps College and No. 11 Colorado College tomorrow.

Sophomore Hope Harris led the Panthers in the match against Austin College with nine kills, junior Christine Denning posted 22 assists, and junior Jennifer McKannan led with 18 digs. Senior Sarah Harris was also in double digits with 11 digs.

Against Southwestern, Sarah Harris and freshman Chelsea Pittman led with 18 kills apiece, with Harris posting a double-double with 16 digs as well. Denning dished out 46 assists, and McKannan led with 36 digs. Sophomore Hope Harris and freshman Presley Dickson were in double digits with 13 and 12 digs, respectively, and freshman Alexis Pappas led with five blocks.
