MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team picked up two more wins today at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference East/Central Divisional, hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., with a 3-2 win against DePauw University and a 3-0 win against Sewanee. BSC evens its record at 7-7 on the season with the two victories.
The Panthers won the five-set thriller over DePauw by the scores of 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 15-4. Senior Sarah Harris led BSC with 18 kills and 21 digs, and junior Christine Denning recorded 39 assists. Harris, sophomore Haley Johnson, and freshman Shelby Moore each recorded three blocks apiece, and Johnson and junior Jennifer McKannan had three service aces each.
In the second match, BSC won by the scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-23. Harris and freshman Chelsea Pittman led with eight kills each, freshman Lauren Reibe led with 17 assists, and McKannan and sophomore Hope Harris posted 10 digs each. Freshman Presley Dickson recorded three aces, and Moore had two blocks.
BSC plays twice more tomorrow, facing Oglethorpe University at 9 a.m. and Hendrix College at 3 p.m.
