ATLANTA – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team dropped two matches today at the Emory Halloween Tournament, losing to Berry College, 3-2, and Randolph-Macon College, 3-1. BSC drops to 14-17 on the season with the two losses, and will face LaGrange College and No. 4 Emory tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Panthers lost the match to Berry by the scores of 17-25, 25-23, 28-30, 25-20, 14-16. Senior Sarah Harris and sophomore Hope Harris led with 16 kills apiece, with Hope Harris recording a double-double after also posting 11 digs. Junior Christine Denning also recorded a double-double with 45 assists and 10 digs, and junior Jennifer McKannan led with 27 digs. Freshmen Shelby Moore and Chelsea Pittman were also in double digits with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
In the match against Randolph-Macon, BSC lost by the scores of 12-25, 25-21, 23-25, 13-25. Moore led the team with 12 kills, and Denning led with 27 assists as well as 10 digs for another double-double. McKannan led with 21 digs, followed by Sarah Harris with 17.
After tomorrow’s matches, the Panthers return home for their final match of the season, facing Bryan College on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
