Freshman Kelly Foster led all players with 11 kills in her first collegiate match, and she also posted a double-double with 10 digs as well. Junior Presley Dickson led with 20 digs, and junior Lauren Reibe led with 37 assists. Freshmen Katie O'Bar and Kathleen Pfitzer also had two blocks apiece.
BSC's match against Piedmont turned into a nail-biter. The Panthers eked out a 27-25 victory in the first set, and won by two against in the second set, 25-23. Piedmont came back with a win in the third set, 25-22, before the Panthers rallied down the stretch of the fourth set to win both the set and the match, 25-23.
Junior Shelby Moore had an outstanding game, recording a game-high 17 kills with only three errors for a .438 attack percentage. Pfitzer and senior Hope Harris also posted 12 kills apiece. Harris also added 11 digs, and Reibe was also impressive with 47 assists and 17 digs. Dickson led with 28 digs, and Foster had 18. Moore and Pfitzer led at the nets with three blocks each.
"I thought today was a great day for our team," Head Coach Judy Green, who is in her first season with BSC, said. "We had to find two different ways to be successful and win two matches today, and our players made adjustments when we asked them to, and they believed in what we were doing every step of the way. It's got to be a huge confidence booster for our team to do that. I feel like defensively we outplayed both teams today, and I think our offense is coming around."
