ATLANTA—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team dropped two close matches today at the Doc Partin Classic, hosted by No. 4 Emory University in Atlanta.
The Panthers fell to Faulkner, 3-2, by the scores of 25-23, 25-22, 12-25, 15-25, and 16-14. BSC then lost to Wheaton College, 3-1, by the scores of 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 24-26.
"We had opportunities to win both matches today, but struggled to close out some close sets," Head Coach Judy Green said. "I like how we responded when we were down and we showed a lot of fight. We need to serve more aggressively and take our time in putting the first contact in system. This is exactly the competition we needed to see. It makes us have to play faster."
Statistics were not immediately available, but will be posted here as soon as possible.
BSC is in action again tomorrow, taking on No. 5 Eastern University and No. 4 Emory at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET.
