Volleyball gets two commitments for 2014
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team has gotten commitments from Rachel Lee and Rylee Segrest for the upcoming 2014 season, Head Coach Jeff White announced today, as the two players have completed their intent to enroll in the college and compete this fall.
Lee, a setter from Montgomery, Ala., is a senior at The Montgomery Academy. She was 2012 and 2013 AHSAA 2A Area 8 MVP, as well as a 2013 First-Team and 2012 Second-Team All-Metro selection by the Montgomery Advertiser. Lee was a 2013 Team Captain, and was also named to the 2013 AHSAA 2A State All-Tournament Team and 2013 Alabama All-Star Sports Week South Team. She is a nominee for the 2014 Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award for Christian Leadership in Athletics, and also excels in the classroom, having earned High Honor Roll all four years. Lee is also a member of Cum Laude Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. She is the daughter of Marty and Nancy Lee, and her older sister, Meredith, will be a senior on the BSC volleyball team this upcoming season.
Segrest, also a setter, is a senior at The Donoho School in Anniston, Ala., where she was a 2013 All-State, All-County, and All-Area honoree. She also received 2012 All-Area honors. Segrest is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, President's Roll, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Society of High School Scholars. She is the daughter of Brian and Keitha Segrest.
