Volleyball sweeps LaGrange, Piedmont in Drury Inn & Suites MckAttack Bash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team moved to 3-1 on the season Saturday with sweeps of LaGrange and Piedmont in the Drury Inn & Suites MckAttack Bash in Bill Battle Coliseum.

In this morning's match against LaGrange, senior Kathleen Pfitzer and sophomore Caroline Hyde led with seven kills each, and junior Katie McCormack led with 11 assists. Junior Emily Dang and sophomore Caitlin Lee also posted 10 assists each, and senior libero Lauren Bedford led with 14 digs and six service aces.

This afternoon against Piedmont, sophomore Lynsie Byrd had 19 kills to lead all players. McCormack had 36 assists, and Bedford and senior Meredith Lee posted 19 and 14 digs, respectively.

The Panthers are on the road for the next four weeks, beginning with a trip to Lexington, Va., next weekend to play in the Washington and Lee Invitational, where they will face Southern Virginia, Washington and Lee, Marietta, and Roanoke, Friday and Saturday.
