Volleyball results from Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team traveled to Atlanta, Ga., this weekend for the Emory Invitational, going 1-3 against a strong field of opponents.

The Panthers now stand at 7-5 on the season.

BSC opened play on Friday with a 3-1 loss to Bowdoin College, followed by a 3-2 loss to Randolph-Macon College. On Saturday, the Panthers notched a 3-1 win against Transylvania before falling to No. 21 Wisconsin-Whitewater 3-1.

Senior Kathleen Pfitzer led with 13 kills against Bowdoin, while junior Katie McCormack had 30 assists and 12 digs. Senior Meredith Lee also had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.

Against Randolph-Macon, sophomore Lynsie Byrd led with 15 kills and 16 digs, and McCormack had a team-high 32 assists.

Today in the win over Transy, Byrd and Pfitzer led with eight kills each, McCormack had 24 assists, and junior libero Lauren Bedford led with 16 digs. Byrd also had 12 digs.

In the final match today against UWW, Byrd led with five kills, sophomore Caitlin Lee led with 10 assists, and Bedford led with nine digs.

BSC opens Southern Athletic Association play this week, traveling to face Millsaps on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
