DANVILLE, Ky.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team dropped its second straight match Sunday, falling to Centre, 3-0, in Alumni Gymnasium in Danville, Ky.
The Panthers fall to 18-10 overall and 8-4 in the Southern Athletic Association; the Colonels move to 10-15 overall and 6-6 in the SAA.
The first set was close the whole way, with the largest lead by either team coming when Centre pulled up 15-10 before the Colonels eventually won 25-23.
BSC led early in the second set, 7-5, but Centre used a 6-0 run to pull up 11-7. BSC responded with four straight points to tie it up 11-11 but that was the closest the Panthers would come to taking back the lead. The Colonels went on a 9-3 run after that to go up 20-14 and ended up winning 25-20.
Set three was close for only a short while, with the teams playing to a 4-4 tie before Centre used a series of scoring runs to win the set, 25-13, and the match.
The Panthers return home next weekend for two more SAA matches and the final home games of the season, hosting Berry College Friday at 7 p.m. and Oglethorpe Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum. Saturday will be Senior Day for Lee, Kathleen Pfitzer, and Katie O'Bar.
