Volleyball wraps up regular season play with wins against Rust, Agnes Scott

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team ended regular season action on Saturday in the Rhodes Classic with 3-0 wins against Rust College and Agnes Scott College.

The Panthers now stand at 22-10 heading into post-season play next weekend in the Southern Athletic Association Championship, where they will play as the third seed and face sixth-seeded Sewanee at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7. The tournament is being hosted by top-seeded Hendrix College in Conway, Ark.

BSC defeated Rust on Saturday by the scores of 25-8, 25-6, 25-13. Sophomore Lynsie Byrd led with 12 kills, and had no errors for an .800 attack percentage. Junior Mollie Peavy also added 10 kills. Junior Emily Dang led with 16 assists, and junior Caitlin Lee recorded 10 assists. Peavy and freshman Rachel Lee led with six digs apiece.

In the second match for BSC on Saturday, the Panthers defeated Agnes Scott by the scores of 25-14, 25-7, 25-19. Senior Kathleen Pfitzer led with 10 kills, junior Katie McCormack led with 35 assists, and Rachel Lee led with 17 digs. Byrd and senior Meredith Lee also added 10 digs each.
