Salter, McCormack earn AVCA All-Region honors, Salter named South Region Freshman of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Senior Katie McCormack and freshman Jeneva Salter have been named All-South Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the organization announced today.

Salter, an outside hitter from Madison, Ala., was also named the South Region Freshman of the Year after being voted Southern Athletic Association Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All-Conference last week. She leads the BSC offense and is ranked 25th in the nation with 4.15 kills per set.

McCormack, a setter from Germantown, Tenn., was also a First-Team All-Conference selection, and earned Honorable Mention All-Region accolades last season. She ranks 26th in the nation with 10.33 assists per set.

The pair combined to help BSC earn the program's firt NCAA Championship berth this year. The Panthers defeated No. 22 Chicago, 3-1, in today's first round game in Rome, Ga. BSC will face the winner of the game between top-seeded No. 2 Emory and eighth-seeded Greenville tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. ET.
