BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After earning All-Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), Birmingham-Southern's Katie McCormack and Jeneva Salter have been named AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans.
The pair helped the Panthers advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Regional this past weekend, falling to No. 2 Emory after defeating No. 22 Chicago in the first round. It was BSC's first trip to the NCAA Volleyball Championship in program history.
Salter, a freshman outside hitter from Madison, Ala., was also named South Region Freshman of the Year, and was voted Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All-Conference by the coaches of the Southern Athletic Association. She led the SAA and ranks among the top in the nation in kills per set (4.05), and also broke BSC's single-season record in that category.
McCormack, a senior setter from Germantown, Tenn., was also voted First-Team All-Conference. She led the SAA with 10.42 assists per set and ranks 22nd in the nation in that category.
