Volleyball ranked 25th in final AVCA coaches poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After a historic season including the program's first post-season berth, the Birmingham-Southern volleyball team has been ranked 25th in the nation in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll released today.

It marks the program's first entrance into the national rankings after the Panthers went 25-6 this year, advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Regional hosted by Berry College in Rome, Ga.

National champion Cal Lutheran topped the poll, while Emory, who defeated BSC in the regional semifinal while ranked second in the nation, came in at seventh. Fellow Southern Athletic Association member Hendrix finishes the year at eighth after advancing to the final four of the NCAA Championship, falling to national runner-up Wittenberg.
