Panthers Battle Tough Against Ranked Opponents at Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team hosted two ranked teams in Bill Battel Coliseum Saturday. The Panthers battled tough but fell 3-0 to No. 20 Hendrix College and No. 8 Emory University to move to 10-3 overall on the year, and 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.

 

Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) led all attackers with 21 kills across the two matches. Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) had a standout day on the court.  She finished with 11 kills, 11 digs, and 24 assists. Ashely Dodson (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon HS) also earned double-digit kills and digs with 11 each.

 

Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) led with a team-high 31 assists and Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) picked up a team-best 41 digs.

 

The Panthers continue action at home tomorrow, Sept. 25 in a 1 p.m. match against Rhodes College.
