Volleyball sweeps Oglethorpe 3-0, Improves to 13-3 Overall

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team swept Oglethorpe University 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers improved to 13-3 overall, 6-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.  Oglethorpe dropped to 7-9, 1-6 SAA with the loss.

 

Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) led with a match-high 13 kills.

 

Setters Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) and Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) finished with 19 and 15 assists, respectively.

 

And Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) continued her stellar defensive play with a match-high 27 digs. 

 

BSC held the Stormy Petrels to a 0.064 hitting percentage and only 19 team kills.

 

The Panthers hit the road next, traveling to Rhodes and Hendrix for a pair of noon matches.  They take on Rhodes Saturday, Oct. 8 and Hendrix on October 9.
