SAA Tournament: Panthers Advance to Semis with Sweep

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Friday night with a 3-0 win over Oglethorpe University.  The victory marked the third time this season BSC has swept the Stormy Petrels. They improved to 22-6 overall with the win.

 

Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS) and Ashley Dodson (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon HS) had double-doubles.  Ward finished with 14 digs and 12 assists.  Dodson earned a match-high 11 kills to go with 12 digs.

 

Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) picked up a match-high 25 digs.

 

The Panthers will face Berry College tomorrow, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m.  The Vikings defeated Millsaps College 3-1 to advance.  The winner will take on the winner of No. 25 Hendrix College vs. Centre College in the championship on Sunday.
