BSC Competes Tough in Texas

TYLER, Texas – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team competed well at the UT-Tyler Tournament this weekend.  The Panthers went 1-2 in matches Friday and Saturday to move to 3-2 overall on the year.


Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) led all hitters with 30 kills.  She was followed closely by Emmy Kilgore (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) and Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) who earned 25 and 22, respectively.  Kilgore also averaged over 12 digs per match.  She finished second on the team behind Melaina Hissam (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) in the category, who had 48.


Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) , who ended the weekend with 97 assists, led the team with five service aces.


The Panthers will open Southern Athletic Association play next as they travel to take on Millsaps College on Tuesday, Sept. 12.  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
