DANVILLE, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team completed a comeback at Centre College Sunday afternoon. After dropping the first and third sets closely, the Panthers (8-4) took the last two sets to defeat Centre 3-2 and improve to 4-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.
Three Panthers earned career and match-highs. Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) put down a career-best 20 kills with only two errors for a .545 hitting average. Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) finished with a double-double of 55 assists, a career and match-high, and 12 digs. Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) picked up a career and match-high 20 digs in the win.
BSC hit .421 as a team in the fifth set with nine kills and only one attack error. They remain on the road for another pair of SAA matches next weekend. The Panthers take on Hendrix College Saturday, Sept. 20 and then Rhodes College on Sunday, Oct. 1.
