Panthers Sweep Rhodes, Improve to 11-2 in conference

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team swept Rhodes College 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Southern Athletic Association action.  The Panthers (15-5, 11-2 SAA) held off a late rally in the third set to secure the win.

 

Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) earned her fourth double-double of the season.  She tied Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) with a match-high 10 kills and picked up 11 digs. 

 

Melaina Hissam (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) led with a match-high 19 digs. And Rachel Lee (Montgomery, Ala./The Montgomery Academy) earned a match-high 40 assists.

 

BSC closes out its home season with a tri-match on Sunday.  The Panthers take on Hendrix at 11 a.m. and then face No. 10 Emory at 4 p.m.
