Panthers Go 4-0 in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn.  – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a pair of wins in day two of the Rhodes Invitational Saturday.  BSC defeated Brevard 3-0 before taking down Dubuque 3-1.

Four Panthers finished with over 20 kills on the day led by Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS).  She earned a team-high 25 kills and four blocks.  Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) and Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) finished right behind her with 24 and 23 kills, respectively.

Ray, Marjorie Ward (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park HS), and Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) earned double-doubles in the win over Dubuque.  Dailey continued spread the ball at the net and finished with 53 assists in the match.

Defensively, Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) picked up a team-best 41 digs on the day and Erwin earned a team-high seven blocks.

The Panthers remain on the road.  They head to St. Louis, Mo. For the WashU Bear Invite.  Their first match is against Nebraska Wesleyan at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 and then they take on host No. 10 Washington (Mo.) that night at 7 p.m.  BSC will also face No. 14 Carthage and Rose-Hulman in Missouri.
