BSC Splits Day Against Tough Competition

ST. LOUIS, Mo.  – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team competed well against tough opponents Friday at the Washington University Bear Invite.  The Panthers defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 3-0 before falling to host No. 19 WashU in the night cap.


Five hitters finished the day with double-digit kills, highlighted by Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) earning 67 assists. Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) led all attackers with 18 kills and a .412 hitting percentage.  Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) finished right behind her with 17 kills respectively.


Defensively, Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) continued to lead the back line.  She picked up a team-best 39 digs.


The Panthers will also face No. 14 Carthage and Rose-Hulman in day two of the Invite.  Their first match starts at 10:30 a.m.
