BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team pulled off the upset of the season when they handed No. 16 Berry College its first Southern Athletic Association loss in a 3-0 sweep Saturday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers (19-5) secured second place in the league with the win and close conference play with a 12-2 record.
It was a team effort for the Panthers offensively and defensively as they finished with a better hitting percentage and more blocks than the Vikings. Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) earned a match-high 32 assists. Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) led the team with 14 kills. And Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) picked up a team-high 13 digs.
The Panthers close out the regular season at the Emory National Invitational October 26-27. BSC will face No. 5 Thomas More and host No. 8 Emory during the weekend.
