SAA Championship: No. 21 BSC Falls to No. 17 Berry in Final

MOUNT BERRY, Ga.  – No. 21 Birmingham-Southern volleyball fell 3-0 to No. 17 Berry College Sunday afternoon in the 2018 Southern Athletic Association championship.  They are now 10-7 all-time in the SAA tournament.

BSC (25-6) was on an 18-match win streak going into the matchup.  This season, the Panthers have won the most games the program has seen since 2015.

Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) and Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) were named to the all-tournament team for their performances during the weekend.  Erwin and Jeneva Salter (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) tied for a team-high nine kills in the title match.  Erwin hit .368 on the day with only two errors at the net.  Johnson picked up a match-high 27 digs.

Ranked No. 2 in the south region, BSC now waits to see if they will earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.  The Panthers earned a bid last season after finishing as runner-up on the conference.  Tournament brackets will be released Monday morning.
