MOUNT BERRY, Ga.—Sophomore Robert Willett picked up his first collegiate cross country individual title today at the Viking Open, hosted by Berry College in Rome, Ga. Senior Mary Elaine Williamson finished first for the BSC women and fourth overall.
Willett's 8K time was 26:22.81, while Williamson's 6K time was 23:57.92. On the men's side, freshman Trent Blumenthal and senior Reed Kramer rounded out the Panther top three. For the women, senior Emily Moore was second for BSC and ninth overall with a time of 25:26.00.
"I am very proud of the way we finished our cross country season," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "Our men and women fought hard and focused on leaving it all on the course."
Today's meet was the last of the season for the Panthers. The BSC track & field teams open the spring campaign on Jan. 22, 2011, at the Mountaineer Opener, hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C.
