Women seventh, men ninth at Commodore Cross Country Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern cross country teams competed at the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., Saturday. The Panther women placed seventh in the field of 12, and the men were ninth in the field of 15.

Freshman Kelsey Holdbrooks was the BSC top finisher on the women's side, placing 12th in the field of 107 runners with a 6K time of 24:49.20. Freshman Katie Ann Bass was 26th with a time of 25:50.90, and sophomore Victoria Ports was 36th with a time of 26:16.10.

On the men's side, senior Robert Willett finished 16th in the field of 135 with an 8K time of 26:50.60 to lead BSC. Freshman Scott Wheat was 45th with a time of 27:57.70, and freshman Jordan McKnight was 53rd with a time of 28:26.30.

"We had a very good showing today from both our men and women," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "It was a great race environment and we are showing improvement each week."

The Panthers are back in action next Saturday at the Montevallo Pre-Conference in Montevallo, Ala.
