SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern cross country teams opened the 2014 season today at the Sewanee Invitational, with the women placing second and the men placing third.
Three women and two men also medaled. Sophomore Elise Pittman was third overall with a 6K time of 24:17.88, sophomore Shannon Walsh was eighth with a time of 25:22.33, and freshman Morgan Reynolds was 11th with a time of 25:30.34. For the men, sophomore Chris Roberts placed eighth with an 8K time of 27:04.39, and senior Scotty Wild was 11th with a time of 27:24.05.
"It was a strong season opener for our men and women's teams," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "We came together and I am proud of the results today."
The Panthers are in action again next Saturday, traveling to Huntsville for the UAH Earl Jacoby Memorial.
